Faith Computing

Why name a company Faith? It seemed fitting.

Here is the history behind it.

I got married, had a child & started my business all at the same time (in the same year).

On the 18th December 2005 I was married by Pastor Leon Munro at Kingsway Community Church in Caringbah. It was part of some very big changes in my life!

The first year I was in business I jsut worked as a Windows Computer repair guy, going to peoples houses etc to repair their computer issues. I enjoyed this but it only brought in a small wage as I hadnt gained too many clients, it was a learning curb though! I walked the streets around Taren Point Business centre for a long tiem handing my cards out to new potential clients. I was blessed by a great family member who gave me a gift, a mass load of brochures to give out which introduct me - all professionally printed - made by an expert graphic artist - Chris Lethbridge of Mediamix in QLD (who I got to know and became good friends with as well as establishing a great business relatiopnship with), this didnt give me instand business - although it did make me a few contacts and give me more determination to succeed!

The second year of business I decided on the business name "Faith Computing" & had Chris Lethbridge do my logo, then I focused on Cortporate IT more, setting up little servers and looking after businesses, I found this fun and challenging - but still I was not happy. Then tward the end of the year an old friend came along offering me to resell websites, he was honestly ready to go, so I got together 5 clients who I sold on getting a site each and gave him the contact details to go price them and finish the deal, he said they would all be looked after by Christmas! - he lied.

I also got him a friend of my family as a client, he didnt deliver there either. So sadly I was left in a big predicament - I had a client who paid for a site and didnt get it, I had another one who had moved their hosting over to me (onto my friends server) and now I could not even get in TOUCH with my friend... I had only one thing to do, I sat down, found a hosting company to go with and set off to become a web business.

I sat at my computer for 5 weeks without doing ANYTHING else and learnt the basics of Joomla.

In year three (After that Christmas had past) I started putting my entire focus on web based business - getting more web clients. I did a few sites, got more experience, had some failings and learnt some lessons.

By year four I moved my business into an office in Gymea in the southern part of Sydney. I stayed in that office for around 18 months paying just under $1000 per month for it. Whilst there I met some interestiing people. I was always struggling with my business outgoings and never billing my clients properly, or if it wasnt that I was not getting enough work and going crazy trying to get more in! That leveled out after around 12 months, but after our home owners we were renting from decided to put the place up for sal eand selling it within 2 weeks we had to find a new place to live,  so I took rental on a house in Bonnet Bay NSW & moved the Office back into the house. This new place has 3 levels, a garage, inground Saltwater swimming pool and wter views to boast as well - it was a no brainer and I took it.

I found that moving the offiuce into this place also created a more peaceful atmosphere. a few months before this I bought onboard a friend of mine to help in teh business and train up in Web stuff - I started to teach him what I know.

In the second half of my time in the office I met a gentleman by the name of Dr Mike Martin, he gave me a job to do, thus was born a site - www.surfsuccess.com. This also opened me up to the world of membership sites, on this site Mike charges a small amount of money each month for people to access his awesome psychology on Surfing competitions! In building this site Mike also had me do the Thirty Day Challenge - which I must say was enlightening! it was FREE with NO STRINGS! I could not BELEIVE someone would do that!

It gave me many many ideas for businesses which I then proceeded to work on spreadsheets and business plans for! Some of them are listed on the menu to the right on this page.

In the mean time I started to understand more and more about my business and what makes it successful...
